Institute for Integrated Quality Design
Endowed professorship IQD
Quality and sustainability are becoming increasingly important worldwide and also in the Austrian economy. These topics will also greatly influence our future. In order to take this into account, in October 2015 the "Institute for Integrated Quality Design" was established as an interdisciplinary institute at the JKU (Johannes Kepler University) with an interdisciplinary approach.
It is the only research center of its kind in Austria. In the meantime, the institute has been able to convince of its innovative character through numerous awards and publications such as the Upper Austrian State Prize for Environment and Sustainability 2017 (Oberösterreichischen Landespreis für Umwelt und Nachhaltigkeit 2017).
Quality Austria, the Province of Upper Austria and the JKU ensure funding for the first five years.
In his inaugural lecture "Designing Integrated Quality: Innovation, Product Lifecycle and Certification Systems" („Integrierte Qualität gestalten: Innovation, Produktlebenszyklus und Zertifizierungssysteme") in April 2016, Professor Erik G. Hansen was already able to convince of the relevance of this field of research and thus initiate the establishment phase of the institute.
